Swiss brand TAG Heuer has unveiled a new model of the iconic Carrera watch, created in collaboration and dedicated to the Porsche Carrera.
This is the fourth watch created in partnership between Porsche and the Swiss brand TAG Heuer. The first in the series was a sporty, racing-inspired contemporary watch based on the 44mm Carrera Sport Chronograph with an external ceramic bezel and a textured dial that looked like asphalt. Then there was a steel model in a black coated version, and then there was a smart watch. Today, TAG Heuer introduces a more classic retro design based on the Carrera Chronograph 42mm.
Sleek and recognizable, the new Carrera x Porsche RS 2.7 retains the overall proportions and mechanics of the model while adding a dose of Porsche branding. The case has a classic look with a polished and slanted bezel (no scale), faceted lugs that have been a hallmark of the collection since 1962, and an overall clean design. With a diameter of 42 mm, it is equipped with classic pushers, is water resistant to 100 m and is protected by sapphire crystal on both sides. The most remarkable element of the case is located on the sidewall at the 9 o’clock position. Here, the Carrera logo is minted on the watch.
The model is offered in two versions. One of them is a stainless steel model with bright blue contrasting elements. This color is used on the side of the case, the top pusher, the crown, and on the white dial with hands, tracks and sub-dials, where it is used to highlight important information. This model is sold on a stainless steel bracelet and comes with a NATO textile strap with the same colors and logos as the watch. The release of this version of the model is limited to 500 pieces.
The second option is even more exclusive. It is limited to 250 pieces and is more luxurious as it is crafted from 18k rose gold. Here, Porsche-related elements are more restrained. For example, the side logo is engraved on a gold surface without the use of color. Contrasting accents are mainly found on the dial, with a white base accentuated by scarlet elements on the hands, markers and tracks. The red color is used on the alligator leather strap and on the additional textile strap.
The TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche RS 2.7 is powered by its own Caliber Heuer 02 automatic movement. The integrated modern movement is based on a column wheel and a vertical clutch. It is a powerful movement with a power reserve of 80 hours when fully wound. The open caseback reveals a rotor shaped like a Porsche steering wheel.
